sorry to make you wait so long

Sorry to make you wait to long to see what Jack's big surprise was last week.

jack got his very own "JT" Well , it's not really a john deere, it's a cub cadet but he calls it JT and he thinks it is, so IT IS!!!

We were invited to a March of Dimes Kick Off meeting at Peg Perego. They are a big sponsor and team for the March of Dimes here in Fort Wayne and since we are the ambassador family, we were asked to speak...well i spoke...haha. At the end of the 2nd meeting Jack was given this tractor and he was so excited. Screamed with excitement. He of course didn't want to get off of it and didn't get that we were putting in the back of the car and taking him home....he screamed bloody murder all the way home.

He hasn't quite gotten the hang of how it works but i bet he'll get it fast once it's outside and he can go FAST all by himself!!!

THANKS PEG PEREGO!!!
Me, Matt, Mike (March of Dimes), and Jack
Also, just wanted to update you a little on Jack. He was a little sickly last week and beginning of this week. He started with a fever, no other symptoms and so we assumed ear infection. I called dr. on call Friday night because his respirations were high and he said since he didn't have a cough, wheezing or runny nose he could only assume it's because of the fever. Kids kind of pant like dogs when they have a high fever, that's how their body tries to compensate. So most of Saturday he was fine, no fever, until right after dinner out with Auntie Ang. So more tylenol and such. Sunday morning he woke up icky and grouchy and HOT and so I took him to redimed. I would NEVER have taken him there had I thought it was something other than ear infection. We have too many specialits to think about going to a redimed but it worked out fine. The dr there was very nice and accomodating. I told her his ear history and she basically looked at his ear, said yes that it was an ear infection, asked me what antibiotic I wanted, dosed it and we were on our way (1.5 hours later). So i think he is starting to feel better now. On top of all that, i THINK he is getting his 2 year molars. I don't know for sure because i do not dare put my fingers in his mouth for fear of them getting chopped off!!!
and speaking of teeth, Jack has his first dentist appointment next Wednesday. PRAY LONG AND HARD FOR MATT AND I ON THIS ONE!!!! we might need some drinks or xanax afterwards. he is getting very hard at the dr's now...because he has been through so much and he is getting too smart!!!!
Will post more about that next week unless I take some cute pictures between now and then!!!
HUGS!

Children's Museum and dr update

Last Friday, Jack and I and our friends Samantha and Kaden headed down to Indy for a pulmonologist appointment and for a day of fun at the Children's Museum. First I will tell about the pictures, then I'll will tell about the appointment. Fun things first!!!

Jack was so happy to see John Deere stuff there. This is the bull dozer that he got to sit in. He was in heaven!
This was in the nutrition section and Jack and I were sitting with "Couch Potato"
This is also in the nutrition section. jack eating pretend food...too bad it's not real!!
This is the "potato" head that Jack and I made together!
This was a pretend ice cream parlor (Kaden in the background). This was actually pretty funny because there were a bunch of older girls in there pretending that the parlor was really busy and carrying on about that. One of them asked Jack if he wanted ice cream and he said "uh huh" and then she took it right back from him because she was "too busy" and he just looked at me like what the heck are these girls doing!!!
This was in their library. A "little tykes" computer. It was adorable and as you can see, he knows exactly what to do with the mouse and everything.

this movie above was supposed to be a picture but I had it on the movie mode but it turned out cute. it's a picture of Jack kissing Curious George in the new exibit at the museum.

So now for the doctor's appointment update. It went fairly well. We had an appt to get his RSV shot on the Wednesday before and he weighed 22 pounds 10 ounces and that was a bit of a loss from the previous month so I knew that we needed to talk about that. Also, he had a bit of a cold at the shot appt and the respiratory therapist said he was rattly in his chest so I was concerned on Friday about how he sounded. Well, good news there, dr said he sounded clear and his heard sounded good and all that jazz. I told him about his weight loss, we talked about his eating habits, or lack there of, and he wasn't too happy with his weight. (He is at less than 3rd percentile for weight and height). Although he didn't like it too much, he said he wasn't concerned right now because his pulmonary function is not being compromised because of it. He said if he continues to have this problem than he may want to do a sleep study to see if he desats at night causing him to use up calories to breath. He doubts this is happening but it would be worth checking in to. He said it might just be is metabolism or a caloric thing and we just have to give him some time. Although he is a bad eater. For example...he ate nothing for dinner tonight!!! YAY!!! and drank about 1 oz of milk all day. Thank goodness for multi vitamins i guess.

So all, in all the appt went ok and we go back in May! At that time he may change some medications around to start weaning him off the steriod.

I hope that you all enjoyed the pictures and just so you know....I have another topic to post on but I will wait a few days to do that. Jack got his very own............brand new.....................................

Randomness

Hey everyone! I hope that you all enjoyed jack's little dance video. Hopefully I can put some more video on here. It's almost easier to take a video of him these days because he doesn't stand still long enough for a still photo.
Anyway, Jack is doing good. He had a bit of a cold and ear infection this past week but he seemed to take it well. No doctors visits so that was good. Only one call in to the doctor and we were saved!! haha!

We are going to Riley to the pulmonologist on Friday for a 3 month check up. I don't believe we'll have any changes to make. He is doing so well with the current medications that i can't imagine him wanting to change anything in the middle of winter. I expect to be weaning medications come spring though. He is still getting the RSV shot once a month so I think that has saved us this winter. Speaking of which, he gets that shot again this Wednesday (not a fun day because he knows what's coming now).

I think our only concern for this appointment coming up is his weight. Our pediatrician was okay with his weight because he gained the average from age 1 to age 2, which is 5 pounds. He is not over the 23 pound mark yet. So if that's the average then you are looking at about 27 pounds by age 3 and that just seems so small. Our poor little peanut can still wear 12 month pants but is getting too long for them but his little waist is too small for 18 months. I know I shouldn't complain and worry because he has come such an incredibly long way from birth but it's just worrisome. Eating at our house is a struggle most days and very stressful. For instance, today he ate maybe a handful of corn pops for breakfast (refused milk), for lunch he ate good, green beans (probably 10) a hot dog (probably 3/4) and maybe a half dozen dices peaches and a glass of water. For dinner he ate probably 3 pieces of sausage off of pizza and about 4 pieces of pineapple and a handful of goldfish. THE END!!!! Milk is a struggle these days too.

okay, enough about that. i have to brag a little bit now.

Jack now knows most of his colors: Red, Orange, Yellow, Blue, and Purple.
Jack also knows 4 shapes: Square, Circle, Triangle and Star.
Out of those he only says Red and Yellow and Star but I thought that was pretty good for just being 2. He is also obsessed with Diego and constantly is saying "GO DIEGO GO!!!"

Also a cute little thing he did the other day: The got out his doodlepad and was drawing little dots all over it and i asked him what he was making and he told me they were PEAS!!! isn't that hilarious?!?!? PEAS!!! He loves peas!

Down below is just a picture of jack eating breakfast the other day....on his J.T. of course
Today Jack's friend Kaden came over and we ventured outside in the snow. It went a lot better than it did last time. Jack wouldn't get out of the sled last time, let alone touch the snow. He actually liked it today but he wouldn't leave his mittens on so it didn't last all that long.

Also, please see on the right hand side near the bottom that i have added some links to some other sights I like to visit. There is a website of another preemie that I would love for you all to read. It's called "Confessions of a CF husband" It's about a family that the wife has cystic fibrosis and they just had a 24 weeker and the mom is very sick and the father keeps this blog going and it's amazing!!!

Also, if you have a chance anytime, anywhere, there is a song by Matthew West called "Safe and Sound" and I would love for you all to take a listen to it, or at least read the lyrics.....

actually I am going to find the lyrics right now and post them because it's amazing!!

Here they are: "Safe and Sound" by Matthew West

Can't believe you're hear now

Tiny dream come true

The answer to my prayer now

I'm so in love with you

Couldn't wait to meet you

Hope you like your name

I get the funny feeling

Life will never be the same

Safe and sound

You're here with me now

Like I hoped you'd be

Safe and sound

You're here with me now

And that's all I'll ever need

The world's a scary place here

But Baby it's alright

I'll make sure the coast is clear

So you can just sleep tight

But if you're afraid of monsters

Like everybody is

I'll be right beside you

Closer than a kiss

Safe and sound

I'm here with you now

And you will always be

Safe and sound

I'm here with you now

And that's all you'll ever need

Someday I'm gonna teach you

The reason why we pray

So that Heaven's love may reach you

Every single daySo,

Baby close your eyes now

And say a prayer with meLord,

I lay me down to sleep now

But I know I will be

Safe and sound

You're here with us now

And we will always be

Safe and sound

You're here with us now

And that's all we'll ever, all we'll ever need

You're all we'll ever need
