sassies

An update from his pulmonologist appointment about a week ago:

Tonsils very big and touching. The doctor couldn't even see to the back of this throat. We are awaiting his upcoming appointment with the ENT to see if we are going to get his tonsils out. He is still having ear drainage (although not as much since he has been on his new med) but none the less, it's still there.

He weighed in at the appointment 26 pounds 4 ounces and 34.5 inches long. Dr. M was very very excited. The cookies, cake and pancakes are paying off!!! He is not in the 10th percentile for height and weight (better than the 4th percentile last appointment!)

He also started Jack on a nasal spray for allergy type symptoms. Let me tell you how fun a nasal spray is with a 2.5 year old. NOT!

Eye appointment update:

NOT GOOD!!! We just switched eye doctors. He only had to go once a year and last appointment the dr said he was a bit near sighted but nothing major and didn't require glasses. I really didn't think much about this appointment at all. Just a yearly check up. Much to my surprise the dr said that he was a -2.00 in his right eye (exactly the same as Matt which is not good for such a young little peanut) and a -0.75 in his right. So..........his sassies (glasses...that's what Jack calls them) are on order. The dr. seemed a little perturbed that his eye sight was that bad and that he wasn't in glasses already and wanted to know what his prescription was last time. So he is getting medical recs from the other dr. and see where the ball was dropped. Not that there is anything we can do now. He said that near sightedness doesn't get better in kids like far sightedness does but hopefully we can slow the progression of it getting worse. Who knows?!!? And hopefully he will keep the darn things on, which i think he will for a time. He loves to wear his sun-sassies!!!!

I think that's all I have for now. I have no pictures to post at this time, but I'll add a few from last year at this time and the year before that, just to see how much he has grown!!!

puppy pooped on me elmo book

That's right. Puppy (Lucy) did pooped on Jack's Elmo book. We had a long 4 weeks with Lucy and in the end we had to give her back to the pound. Not only did my sanity become a problem with a 2.5 year old and a puppy, but Jack's asthma was getting worse and it started when we got the puppy. So, without spending a bizillion dollars getting tested for allergies, we decided it would be best to take her back to the pound. It was very sad and I bawled my eyes out. It didn't help that Jack was constantly feeding the dog (ie; guacamole pringles) so Lucy was having some poopy issues.........all over ELMO!!!

So my sanity is much better now and we are all less stressed out and Jack didn't seem to be affected by her leaving at all.

Onto JACK updates.

DaDaDaDa.....HE'S 26 POUNDS!!!! YAYAYAYAY!!!! That's a HUGE weight gain for him. He has an appointment with the lung doctor in Indy on Friday and I really hope he is pleased with the gain. I am sure he will be!!!

We all had a great 4th of July. This was the first year Jack saw fireworks and we knew he was either going to love them or hate them. HE LOVED THEM!!! We went to a cookout with Matt's brother and Jack stayed awake until almost midnight and he watched them in the sky. We saw "popcorn" ones and boooo and lellow and wed and pink. He did great. He slept til 9 the next morning and we all took a 3.5 hour nap. PERFECT!!!

Then it was daddy's birthday. HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY DADDY!!! We slept all day (haha) and then went to dinner with some family and friends and then poor daddy had to work 3rd shift. ICKY!!!!
Jack and Daddy on his birthday!!!
In more news, we just found out Jack will be starting the "preschool" part of his daycare on August 25. I can't believe he is closer to 3 than 2. WOW!!! Where has time gone. It's so fun to listen to him and watch him d something new everyday. And he is getting so gullible and smart all at the same time. Like tonight, Jack did the thumb trick where it looks like you take the end of your thumb off and he totally fell for it and he was very worried. Then Matt did the same thing to his bellybutton. Acted like he took off his belly button and put it in Jack's hand and shut his hand and Jack was freaking out and wanted it back on his belly. It's so cute!!!! Then of course, he wanted to take mommy and daddy's buttons off!!!
Here are some pictures from the past week or so.
Jack thinking mommy is funny for a minute. HA!

"Where's Jack??"

PEEK-A-BOO!!!

Jack all packed up to go bye bye!!

Jack's new hiding spot!! He now has two blankets in there and a puppy!

we are going to indy on Monday and hopefully heading to the zoo with Grandma Jenny so I hope to have lots of pictures and updates for you then
HAVE A GREAT REST OF THE WEEK!!!

lucy, weddings, bumps, bruises, parties and tractors

It's been a while! SORRY!!! I just got my mom's camera so I have lots of pictures to update with. First, Lucy is doing good and Jack's loving her more and more. We started cage training her and she does great. She only potties in the house if we aren't paying attention and well......OUR FAULT!!! Jack and I just took her to the vet for her shots and let me tell you....not really fun with a 2.5 year old, a puppy and me....by myself. CRAZY!!!

Lucy acting like she is going to attack Jack's cookies sitting on the table.
This past weekend, my sister Cindy got married and it was beautiful. It rained right before the ceremony and then stormed right after but SUNNY during. It was great. Jack really enjoyed the reception. I was excited for him to dance and then when it was time, je just ran back and forth across the dance floor about 100 times. Needless to say, he slept in the next day for a long time AND took a 2 hour nap!!
This is my nephew Nate (my sister Cindy's son). He played the guitar and sang a song at the reception for his Mom and her new husband Kerry. He is awesome!!!!
My sisters Family!
My mom and dad with my sister and new brother in law and of course Jack had to sneak in there.

My sister Amy (in the middle) and my two nieces Abbey(left) and Audrey (right)

Matt and I at the ceremony. Matt didn't get to stay long cuz Jack couldn't sit still.
Now for the bumps and bruisespart. my parents came over a few week ago and my dad was trying to help Matt get a stump out of the ground. I was talking with them and my mom was with Jack on the sidewalk while he rode one of his riding toys. He likes to go fast of course and my mom was running trying to keep up with him. Well he was going so fast and he hit an uneven part of the sidewalk and was about to fly off and my mom ran to catch him and then she ended up falling as well. She saved his head from a massive hit but she got banged up pretty bad. We all ran to her and I knew once I got there that Jack was all right by the way he was crying. He did have two spots of road rash on the side of his forehead and a few other little scraps by nothing too bad. My mom on the other hand had hit her head very hard. Her glasses punctured her face and she got her shoulder bad. My dad and I took her to the ER and they had to do a CT to make sure she didn't break the bone right under her eye. Thank goodness everything came back okay and they checked Jack out as well and he as all right too. Needless to say, that toy is in the trash!!!!!! Jack is healed all up from the "boom" and Mimi is looking better. Still a little bruised under the eye.
Shoulder right after the "boom"

Mimi's face in the ER. Doesn't look awful here but days after she turned lots of colors under her eye all the way to her ear. THANK YOU MIMI FOR SAVING JACK'S HEAD!
Actually that all happened after my niece Audrey's graduation party. We were there first and then they stopped at our house on their way home. GOODNESS!
Here is Audrey and Matt, Jack and I at Aud's graduation party. WAY TO GO AUD!! WE ARE PROUD OF YOU!!!
Today, Mimi and Papa picked Jack up from school early and he got to hang out at their house. We also recently took his tractor over there so he can ride it around their big yard and long driveway. He loves it. He thinks he is hot stuff. Sunglasses and all!

Stopping for a drink!

Hope you enjoyed the update and pictures. He is growing so much lately. Not sure in height or weight but just as a toddler. Saying all kinds of things and just being able to have a conversation with you. I love it!!!
New phrases:
"Are you kidding me?"
"I anna see Auntie Angies puppies home"
He can also name most of the kids in his class. He is saying so many more words together in a sentence. He can finish lyrics with me in Hey Diddle Diddle and Row Row Row the boat and we are working on Jack and Jill!!! HAH! And my mom tried to do Little Jack Horner sat in a Corner and he told her "no Mimi". Guess he didn't want to sit in the corner!!!

A new addition to our family

LUCY LOO BOWLING is now part of our family. We met Lucy three weeks ago today at a pet shelter. We really went there to look at kittens because we thought that would be a good way to go but Matt showed me Lucy and of course I fell in love with her. She had just been dropped off that morning as a stray so we couldn't take her home. They have to wait 5 days to see if family come to get her and then she is quarantined and then we could have her so we waited until the following Saturday and discussed having her all week. Well I whined (at least i'm honest) and Matt and Jack drove to get her last Saturday to surprise me while I was at work and they couldn't take her home because another dog got her eye and she had some bleeding behind her eye. They wanted to get her checked out on Monday and then also get her spayed, so we could get her Wednesday. I called on Monday to check on her and they said her eye was still bleeding and we could get her Thursday. So I called Wednesday to check on her after she was supposed to get spayed and the lady "forgot" to send her to the vet that day to get spayed. I WAS HOT!!!! We kept telling Jack everyday that we were bringing the dog home tomorrow. Bringing the dog home tomorrow. Bringing the dog home tomorrow and I was getting really upset. So..........the lady said that her eye was being checked Thursday and she was getting spayed Friday and I could pick her up on Saturday.

So, today is Saturday. They opened at 9. I was up there with Jack and my two nephews at 10 and Lucy was not there. Grrrr. She was still at the vet and they wanted me to come back later but that wasn't going to happen because we got her about an hour away. So they went and picked her up at the vet and now she is home with us!!!

She is awesome!!!! She is so mild mannered. So snuggly. So cute. I think perhaps she got hit a lot where she came from. She cowers a lot when you go to pet her but once you start loving on her she doesn't want you to stop. Her and Jack have already played fetch with her tug toy and she even likes the bed we got for her, surprising!!! Jack acts as if she has lived here all his life. He loves her. He won't call her Lucy but he says "Buh buh" (that's how he barks) or he calls her LooLoo!!!

Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you what kind of dog she is..... A POUND PUPPY!!!! Her card from the pound just said terrier mix. We aren't really sure what she looks like besides a shaggy little mutt!! hah. Her hair is very coarse and thick and her tail is long. Defintely the terrier face but we don't know what else. If you have any ideas what she might be, let us know!!!!

We have a MIRACLE

As you all know, I love to look back at where Jack came from and how far he has come. So below are pictures from around this time one and two yers ago. His transformation is so incredible.
May 2006 (first time without oxygen when he was at home)
May 2007 (playing the fountain at the zoo)

May 2008 (stuck in the hamper)
I'd like to share a quick little story with you that Matt shared with me today. A lady that he works with asked him ALL about Jack and wanted to know all what happened with me and him so Matt gave her a pretty quick version and then shared our website with her. She came into his work today and said how amazing Jack was and said that she would look at pictures of Jack and just have tears rolling down her face. She then apologized to Matt for having to endure all that pain, emotion and heartache and then Matt told her not to be sorry but to congratulate him for having such an awesome Miracle!!!! And he's right. There are so many people out there that apologize for having to go through what we went through with Jack but I'm not sorry, Matt's not sorry but we are happy. We are who we are for going through it all. We have such an awesome bond with Jack and we always will. He is such an amazing little man and I couldn't ask for more.
Okay, enough mushy stuff. On to the updates. I have a lot to update you on with Jack as well as BOB and my sister!!!!
1st; BOB!!! Bob is doing awesome. His surgical biopsy went well but he had to have the chest tube in for longer than planned because he developed an air leak in his lungs. He did finally get discharged late last week and then had an appt with his oncologist and it turns out that he has chemo-induced pneumonia!!!! (which is a good thing because it's not cancer in his lungs) So, he's off chemo for a while and then they will do another scan and go from there. PRAISE GOD!
2nd: My sister, Amy, had/has type 1 diabetes and she got a call last tuesday night that there was a pancreas for her. That night she had a full pancreatic transplant and today it's been a week and she is doing well. I believe she will be discharged to a living center/rehab for about 2 months. Her sugars have been awesome since the transplant so we pray that she continues to do well
3rd: JACK!!!!! He's awesome. We had a great long weekend with him. We traveled up to Angola to go to the humane shelter puppy/kitty birthday party and then to Matt's sisters house. We fell in love with a puppy at the shelter but I don't think we will bring her home. It's been a really tough decision for Matt and I. We both grew up with dogs and now we are having such a hard time deciding. At Matt's sisters, Jack got to see bunnies (bonga bonga bonga), chickens, geese, kitties, kitties and more kitties. He had a great time and he got to see all his cousins!!! Sunday we worked in the yard allllll day looonnngg and Jack had a great time. He helped plant grass seed, he helped put up trim along our flower bed, he rode his bike, he had dirt covering most of his face, he ate cookies all day, and he helped water the flowers. AWESOME day!!! And then Monday we took a long nap and then went to the YMCA to their splash park. It was free to the public for Memorial Day so we took advantage and had a great time with our friends Sam and Kaden.
Jack's ears are also doing well. He has been off of antibiotic for almost a week so keep your fingers crossed. We go for the follow up appt Wednesday so we will know more then. I was just looking back and he had his adnoids and tubes in 1 year ago on the day he just got his tubes last week. WEIRD!!!! We have just been dealing with this forever!!!!
Sorry I don't have more recent pictures. He is soooooo hard to get good pictures anymore because he never stops moving!!! He is a crazy man!!!
NEW WORDS:
kack mowlning= Jack Bowling
deeedeee= T.V
dahdee map= Daddy Matt
immmy= Uncle Jimmy
ohhhh maaaamm= oh man (like swiper the fox on Dora the explorer)
