Updates from the Land of Sickies

HELLO world!!! Sorry we haven't updated in a while. As you read a few weeks ago, Jack was in the hospital with pneumonia. He was getting better, no more coughing and then BAM! Monday he started coughing again. We started the breathing treatments back up and he just couldn't seem to cut it. So, I took off work yesterday and took him to the doctor. DOUBLE EAR INFECTION on top of the coughing and wheezing....but NO FEVER!!!! So, the doc said that since Matt and I know the drill so well, he can stay home and he is back on oral steriods!!!! (much to my dismay.) Breathing treatments every 4 hours, plus the steroid, plue nasal spray, plus singulair and zyrtec....AHHH!!!! Good thing a lot of these come in chewable now, because he is a BIG boy! HA! Anyway, he handles it all pretty well without much fight so I can't complain. He actually asks for breathing treatments which totally breaks my heart!

So on top of all that, ear infection=antibiotic again! We went to teh ear doc 2 weeks ago and he said right ear was bad. We had just finished oral antibiotics and 3 doses of IM injections so he wanted to do a hearing test before we decided on new tubes AGAIN! We did the hearing test last Tuesday and it showed mild hearing loss in the right ear but there was also fluid behind the ear. Ped said he would lean toward new tubes for sure, and we go to ear doc on Wednesday and that will probably be the verdict. I am not opposed to it at all, since the ears could very well be causing this runny nose, coughing stuff.........or VICE VERSA! We also head to Riley to the pulmonologist on the 20th and we are hoping for some allergy testing as well as maybe some med changes. Matt and I have just been really frustrated lately and would like some possible answers on some triggers for all this "asthma" complications.

So.........that's that!

On more fun stuff, he is developing awesome! He is talking 100 new words a day and he is very into BASKETBALL lately!!! He tells us he is a good "basketball teamer" and he likes to run fast and dribble and catch and shoot the ball for 2 points!!!! LOVE IT!!!

He is also into reading lately and looking for the letter "J" everywhere. We found it on the TV the other day on the rolling credits for Blue's Clues. We also found it on daddy's JEEP. He walked out to the garage one morning, saw the letter J and said, "Mommy, Daddy has a letter J on his Jeep for JACK!". Like Matt put that there just for him!!! He is hysterical!

And one more fun thing....I GOT A TATTOO! Much to my mother and father's dismay but I have really wanted this tattoo for a while. Matt has a very similar one on his upper arm and I love it. These are Jack's very first foot prints, at about 4 days old. I just took our hospital copy of his prints in and ba-da-bing! And let me just tell ya, it really hurts to get a tattoo on your foot!!!!!

Sorry I have no other pictures today. Jack gets to go to a bday party today at the bowling alley so maybe I will have pictures from that. Jack Bowling.....going Bowling! :-) (Yes, I am a dork)

P.S. I have added more blogs to the my sidebar for your viewing pleasure. They are blogs that I keep up with regularly. Most are in need of prayers, so please check them out, as well as some icons of websites above the list!

Valentine's weekend

Happy Belated Valentine's Day everyone!!! We had a pretty fun and relaxing weekend. Daddy had to work late on Friday night so Jack and I went to Target to get daddy a "prize" for Valentine's day. He really wanted to get daddy spiderman but we settled for some reese's hearts and truffle triple chocolate M&M's and a cute card. Jack was very proud of it and "wrote" his name...."J for Jack" all by himself (even though it was all scribbles!) Daddy and Jack bought me a card and 3 pink roses!!! LOVE IT!!!

Jack also had a great time on Thursday and Friday at school with Valentine's parties. They made and decorated cookies for Matt and I and made cards and then exchanged cards and treats. He talked about it for days....still is actually!

Saturday we were lazy in the morning and then decided we were going to try to take Jack to his first movie at the theater. It didn't go as good as I thought but he wasn't terrible. He just didn't want to sit still and kept playing with all the seats. He wasn't loud or anything. We took him to see hotel for Dogs because he just loved the previews on TV all the time and those little dogs you got in the Mcdonald's kids meals......maybe a cartoon will be better....when we try again next year!

And then today we did laundry ALL day and cleaned. Daddy was awesome and did all the errands and grocery shopping for me and Jack and I had pajama day!!!!

So all in all, a great weekend!!!!! Hope you all did too!

Just being silly with daddy!

URGENT PRAYER REQUEST

I have another urgent prayer request for all you prayer warriors!!!!!

One of Jack' NICU nurses had been struggling for quite sometime to have babies of her own and she was finally blessed with becoming pregnant with triplet girls. This weekend, however, she lost all three of them due to prematurity (22+ weeks). Please pray for them as they go thru this very difficult time. It just breaks my heart.

I don't know how much more heartache I can take......SO SAD!!!

home sweet home

Oh it's so good to be back home in our own beds. We got home around 7:30pm last night after Matt grabbing Taco Bell and Jack and I getting meds at Target and toys that I had been promising him for everything good he did in the hopsital. I AM NOT OPPOSED TO BRIBING!!!!

It was a long three nights and 4 days in the hospital and they are still pretty confident he had pneumonia. His oxygen sats wouldn't stay up and so they did another chest xray yesterday and it looked the same as Monday, indicating it was defintely pneumonia. Dr. said that his chest xray would have no change for 6-8 weeks after pneumonia. Jack was also on oral steriods for 3 days and OH MY GOSH!!!!!!!!!! HE WAS PSYCHOTIC. THE DEVIL CHILD. I think on Wednesday he probably screamed, kicked and cried for a total of about 5 hours!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOT KIDDING!! He would be fine and sweet one second, whining the next and then just darn right mean the next. It was terrible. And to top it all off, Matt was home sick the first two days with the intestinal bug!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

So, home and off the steriods thank goodness and back on all his inhalers and an antibiotic with a follow up in 2 weeks!!!!!

Thanks for all the prayers!!!

in the hospital

Just a quick update. Jack was admitted to the hospital yesterday after a very fast event of getting sick. It all happened within about 18 hours. He woke up Sunday night with a slight cough and by midafternoon I was in the doctor's office with him. He was admitted from the office. His lungs sounded good but his oxygen saturation wasn't. So they did a chest xray and started him on an antibiotic (ear infection too) and the xray showed early signs of pneumonia. He is on oxygen now and feeling a lot better now that his fever broke. He will probably stay the night tonight because his little body seems to like just a tad bit of oxygen still. Please keep him in your prayers and hope that he gets to come home tomorrow!!!

thanks guys!!!!

A late family Christmas

Last weekend we had a late family Christmas at Matt's sisters house. It was a really great time. It was great to see Cameron (brother-in-law). He just got home from Iraq right after Thanksgiving and we hadn't had a chance to see him yet. And of course, Jack has a great time with all the kids. Especially Brianna and Michael (closest of the 5 to his age!!!) We had some delicious food and just relaxed and it was very awesome. Then the kids and guys went outside to sled. I was surprised Jack was out for as long as he was (about 10 minutes). He is NOT a fan of snow or being cold. It kind of just takes his breath away and he always tells me that "the windy got him in his belly"

I LOVE this dog. Blaze!

What a good picture with Bre Bre!!

Jack and I have also decided that we are soooooo over snow and cold weather. I think we are both having the winter blues. Grouchy, whiney and bored.....BOTH OF US!!!! We are very ready for nice weather and to get out of the house. Jack is ready to ride his tractor and play soccer. I can't believe he will be old enough to play soccer on a little team. I love it!!!!!! It will be the cutest thing ever!!!
Anyway, we hope you all are surviving the winter. Let's pray that we don't have six more weeks of winter tomorrow when the ground hog looks for his shadow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
